The benefits of baking with preschoolers

This is one of the most frequent questions I get asked, so let’s delve in, a little deeper.

What are the benefits of toddler or preschool baking classes?

The preschool baking classes that I run are suitable for children from 2 years old.  Some children may be ready at 2, others may be nearer 3 by the time they are ready for a structured baking class.

Once they are ready, they will get so much from the sessions.

    1. Developing  fine motor skills: Baking involves a lot of hand-eye coordination and the use of fine motor skills, which can be beneficial for young children's overall development.
    2. Learning basic maths and science concepts: Measuring ingredients and observing chemical reactions during baking can help children understand basic math and science concepts.
    3. Boosting creativity: Baking can be a creative activity that allows children to experiment with different flavours and decorations.
    4. Improving social skills: Baking in a group setting can help children develop social skills such as sharing, cooperation, and communication.
    5. Fostering independence: Baking can be a fun and safe way for children to learn how to follow directions, make decisions, and work independently.
    6. Encouraging healthy eating habits: Preschool baking classes can promote the use of fresh, wholesome ingredients, and encourage children to make healthy food choices.

Overall, preschool baking classes can be a fun and educational way for young children to develop a range of skills and interests that can benefit them throughout their lives.
